Dr. Arvinder Soin

Organising Chairman

Dear Friends,

We are delighted to host and welcome you to the Joint 6th International Liver Symposium (ILS) and the Liver Transplantation Society of India (LTSI) Conference, 2024, in Gurgaon, Delhi NCR.

This is the biggest and most ambitious edition of the ILS. Ever. Our faculty line up of 142 includes 26 International and 64 National key opinion leaders, all extensively published and globally acclaimed. As always, at ILS we will present a genuine amalgam of all the core specialties in adult and pediatric Hepatology and Transplantation.

True to the theme - “Liver Diseases and Transplantation in the 2020s and beyond” -, we will bring together the world’s thought leaders, and their stand and vision on a host of hot topics of clinical and research interest today and in the near future. They include: evolving therapies in MASLD; non-transplant therapy and timely transplantation in ACLF and ALF; frontiers in Transplant Oncology, in particular, standardizing indications of liver transplantation (LT) in locally advanced HCC, colo-rectal liver metastases and intra-hepatic cholangiocarcinoma; pushing the envelope in prolonged preservation and therapeutic interventions with machine perfusion of deceased donor livers; moving towards minimally invasive liver donor surgery as standard of care; the scope of AI in HB Surgery and LT; nuances in transplanting small babies; transfusion-free LT; aiming for zero mortality among LT recipients, and so many more.

I am particularly looking forward to my fireside interaction on the evening of March 8th where I will have a free-wheeling chat with two world famous  personalities – a liver surgeon and a hepatologist. We will take a deep dive into their lives and careers to get a sense of how winners make it all happen in the clinic, the lab and their entrepreneurial ventures!

Among the most notable highlights of the 6th ILS will be the Post-Graduate Certificate Course co-hosted by the Medanta Institute of Liver Transplantation and the LTSI, and conducted by an international group of accomplished liver surgery and hepatology teachers.  The course includes deep insights into planning clinical studies, laboratory research and incorporating AI into academic workflows (publications and presentations), followed by break-out workshops for young surgeons on Robotic Liver Surgery, and hepatologists on managing chronic liver disease as a multi-system disorder.

We cordially invite all liver physicians, surgeons, anesthetists, pathologists, radiologists, researchers – students and seniors – to join us on this academic journey where we aim to showcase the state-of-the art and future of hepatology and transplantation.

Best regards,

Arvinder Soin
